Model: Write “The cat” and “The librarian” on the board under T- Teaching Methods each other. Then talk about potential predicates that could finish one of the sentences. “The cat jumped onto the counter.” Guided: Have students help to create a predicate that will go with “The librarian” subject. Write it on the board. Independent: Have predicates tapped around the room. Pass out the strips of paper that have the matching subjects. Distribute them evenly. Have students walk around the room and find their matches. The students then need to record their sentences on the provided recording sheet. Have students read them aloud to check for accuracy.
Have students pick one of their sentences and write it on a
S-Summarizing piece of computer paper. The students should then underline Strategy the subject, and highlight the predicate. They can create an illustration to go with their sentence. Collect to check and display.
