The Tower of David, an urban skyscrapers failure

Inhabitants of the Confinanzas Tower in Caracas, Venezuela, were not surprised

when the Tower of David project was rewarded with the Golden Lion, an
International architecture prize.

The XIII Venice Architecture Biennale granted the Golden Lion for the best project
to the Tower of David, a Skyscraper known by all the citizens in Caracas, located
in La Candelaria, that it was going to be the headquarters of the Confinanzas
Financial Centre; but the 1994 crisis narrowed it down to an abandoned
construction.

When invading properties was popular, especially State properties. This ruined
where 3000 people live; it became the tallest vertical slum in the world. The
Biennale rewarded a slum. A vertical building in which people can fetch water
riding a motorbike, and where is possible to buy things that were stolen in the
neighborhood. Underdevelopment, poverty and laziness are part of this
demagogue government that boasts of a prize thanks to its broken promises and
incompetency while living in the middle of falling bridges, blowing refineries and
breaking roads.

European people that sympathize with these useless revolutions find in these
exotic piracies ways to survive with the deficiencies of the self-denominated
socialist governments, which are full of corrupt and incompetent people who are
worthy to be recognized.
However, this revolution is good enough to generate conditions so the works of
misery could spread all over the country. If it is not undertaken by people, then the
own government will do it. Always ready for piracy.

Besides, the vertical slum known as the Tower of David is just one of many. All
these academic and cultural prizes coming from Europe will find plenty of works to
reward in the political ideology known as Chavism.
