MASTERFLEX® L/S® PULSE DAMPENER

Use only MASTERFLEX® Precision Tubing with MASTERFLEX® L/S® Pulse Dampener to ensure optimum
performance. Use of other tubing may void applicable warranties.
The MASTERFLEX® L/S® Pulse Dampener virtually eliminates pulsation in output flow. The Pulse Dampener
may be used on the discharge line with any tubing pump which has flow rates in the range of those in the
MASTERFLEX® L/S® series and I/P® 26 tubing.
The tubing connectors supplied with the Pulse Dampener are designed to be used with all L/S® tubing sizes as
well as I/P® 26 (e.g., nominal tubing sizes from 1/16 in to 3/8 in ID {1.6 to 9.5 mm ID}). The Pulse Dampener
connections are 1/8 in NPT(F).
Install the fitting that best fits with your tubing requirements. To obtain the maximum unrestricted flow, install a
tubing connector with an OD approximately equal to the ID of the tubing. Use the PTFE-pipe thread tape
provided on the fitting threads to provide a leak-proof seal.
The body materials that come in contact with the fluid being pumped are FDA approved polyethylene. The five
(5) pairs of fittings which are included are either high density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP). The
dead volume of the system is approximately 190 mL, and maximum pressure is 4.3 bar (60 psi) at 21°C (70°F).
Complete chemical compatibility should be checked before using the flow integrator.
Setup (see drawing on reverse side):
1. Install pump discharge tubing on one side of the Pulse Dampener. Attach extension tubing on the other. Push
it on as far as it will go. Clamping of the tubing onto the fitting is recommended.
2. Raise the extension tubing from the Pulse Dampener outlet slightly to create a small amount of back pres-
sure. This will cause fluid to partially fill the body.
3. Start pumping liquid slowly into the Pulse Dampener. Pumping at a fast rate will result in air bubbles in the
discharge line. This condition will disappear after approximately one minute of use.
