ABSTRACT: In response to the disorderly and chaotic growth of large cities generally
emerge different patterns of spatial organization partner based on a new paradigm: a more
harmonious relationship between the environment and beings.
Understanding that cities are reflections of its inhabitants and the economic, political and
social model way of being, it seeks new forms of support to produce a new model city where
other values are printed than those of the capitalist system.
The Progressive Utilization Theory (PROUT) is shown as an alternative to the system in the
pursuit of a harmonious balance between economic growth, social development,
environmental sustainability, and between individual and collective interests, leading to a
new way of living and see the world.
This work aims to show some existing models in Brazil where people with that knowledge
seek to organize themselves to live together in communities, what are your greatest
difficulties and facilities in this building, and what is the biggest challenge.
Through field research, interviews and questionnaires, maps and photographs analysis, this
work will be able to see how the social economic system reflects the organization of space
and the distinguished urbanization itself.
Keywords PROUT, growth in harmony, new urbanization patterns.
