FLOTATION DEVICES - INSPECTION/CHECK

SMM TASK 25-61-00-220-801

1. Detailed Inspection of the Flotation Devices

A. Reason for the Job

STLMC 05-21-11 (Chapter 5 Task No. 25-63-65-603)

B. Job Set-Up

Refer to Figure 601.

(1) Get each flotation device from the installed location in the aircraft.

C. Procedure

(1) Do a detailed inspection of the life vests as follows:

(a) Make sure the condition of packaging, seal (if applicable), and the life vest show no
evidence of damage, abuse, perforations, or other defects.

NOTE: Do not open if sealed.

(b) No defects permitted.

(2) Do a detailed inspection of the life rafts as follows:

(a) Make sure the expiration date on the life raft is current.

(b) Make sure the condition of the packaging, seal, and life raft show no evidence of
damage, abuse, perforations, or other defects.

NOTE: Do not deploy the life raft or break the seal.

(c) No defects permitted.

D. Close Out

(1) Return each flotation device to the installed location.

(2) Remove all tools, equipment, and unwanted materials from the work area.
