Beijing taxis are a really good way to get around and they’re very cheap. They are about 10–20 yuan to
go anywhere in the centre. Taxis are yellow and you can find them near bus stops.
Some taxi drivers speak English, but not all. Ask a Chinese friend or the hotel to write your address in
Chinese, or show a business or hotel card.

Beijing buses are cheap, but they are slow and crowded and the roads are usually very busy. So, they’re
not a good way to get around Beijing.

Bicycle is a very good way to get round. It’s quite slow, but you can see a lot. Many people in Beijing
have cars now, but there are still lots of people on bikes.
Most hotels have bicycles for hire, and they’re not expensive – they are about 10–50 yuan for one day.
