INDIVIDUAL IMMERSIVE MEDIA CHALLENGE

CONSENT & RELEASE FORM

This Agreement is between the USC Entertainment Technology Center, a research unit within the
University of Southern California (“USC”), and ______________________________
(“Participant”) regarding Participant’s submission for the Entertainment Technology Center’s
Immersive Media Challenge (“The Project”).

“Sponsors” are companies or other organizations that donate funding, products, or services, or
allow staff participation in activities such as but not limited to mentoring and judging, for The
Project.

For good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged,
Participant hereby irrevocably grants USC, its successors, assigns and licensees the right to use
any and all audio recordings, video recordings, and/or photographs taken of Participant in such
manner as it may determine in its sole discretion solely in connection with The Project, and to
reproduce and create derivative works of such audio recording, video recordings, and/or
photographs in promotional materials for The Project, and to exhibit, and exploit these rights in
perpetuity in all media now or hereafter known at any time.

Participant also consents to the use of biographical data supplied by Participant in connection
with such audio recordings, video recordings, and/or photographs. Participant hereby releases
any and all claims whatsoever in connection with the use of such audio recordings, video
recordings, and/or photographs and name and the reproduction thereof. Participant hereby
waives any right that Participant may have to inspect and/or approve the use of such audio
recordings, video recordings, and/or photographs, or any reproductions thereof, by USC.

As a participant in The Project, Participant does not have an expectation of confidentiality with
respect to any ideas, data, or information submitted, discussed, or presented in connection
with The Project. Due to the public nature of the competition, mentors, Sponsors, judges,
reviewers, staff, the audience and others will not be asked or required to agree to a non-
disclosure or confidentially agreement in connection with The Project, including in connection
with mentoring or judging of any ideas, discussions, presentations or submissions by
you. Because of the public and nonconfidential nature of The Project and Participant’s
acknowledgement that the Sponsors and USC may be engaging in their own research and/or

development activities that are or may be related to The Project, Participant will not assert any
claims against USC or the Sponsors or companies controlled by or under common control with
a Sponsor) and waives any claims to damages based on any alleged use by USC or the Sponsors
or companies controlled by or under common control with a Sponsor) of Participant’s ideas,
discussions, presentations or submissions to The Project. Participant’s involvement with any of
the Sponsors is strictly voluntary. By entering The Project, Participant acknowledges and
certifies that Participant owns all of the content included in Participant’s submission or
otherwise has obtained any required permissions to use such content, and that Participant’s
submission does not include any content (e.g. trademarks, company names, photos, music,
works of art, or images) that Participant knows or reasonably should know infringes or violates
the rights of USC or any third party. Participant releases the University, the Sponsors, and those
acting pursuant to their authority from liability from any and all claims arising out of or relating
in any way to Participant or Participant’s participation in The Project. Copies of this agreement
may be provided by USC to those Sponsors who are acting as mentors or judges in The Project
and the Sponsors will be third party beneficiaries of this Agreement.
