Web Based Library Management System with E-mail Reminders and Data Analytics

Introduction
The Library Management System should be able to help the librarian to lessen their works in
terms of administering the library. Instead of manual management of library transactions, we the
researchers, are planning to develop a system that can be a replacement to the old style library
management. One of the functions of the system is the various processes in maintaining school
libraries, such as library catalogs for easier browsing of books, keeping records of books, student
lenders, borrowed books, return of books, overdue and balances of borrowed books. This project will
be developed with the use of PHP and MySQL.

PROJECT CONTEXT
A library system is a software which was developed to manage a library's basic housekeeping
functions. This helps give the customer as well as the staff members the knowledge about a particular
book available in the library. This monitors the released, returned, and search catalog. The Librarian
collects documents and fills them with the use of pens. The manual library system is very time-
consuming and a fatiguing task. The rapidly changing technology ascribes much to library system
development. This system should be able to keep track of most searched item and be able to visualize
the figures with the use of graphical analytics. Acquiring this kind of process should alleviate the
administrator to keep track of which books are prominent among users. The researchers are also going
to integrate the system with OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) which should immensely improve
the overall experience of the users while using the system.

Objectives

General Objectives
The system's main objective is to computerize the manual process of keeping book issue
records, students book return and borrowed, so library system operation will be simpler, convenient
and easier to operate. The second objective is to create a database which will contain the data of all
items with the help of OPAC.

Specific Objectives
1. Search specific book titles, authors, and genre.
2. Determine the availability of the books.
3. Determine whether a book is missing and unreturned.
4. Remind users the day before they should return a particular book.
5. Create a page specifically for graphical analytics.
