THE DRIVE SYSTEM OPTIONS IN THE CROWN

OF THE S SERIES PRESSES ARE:
• Link-drive: Offered for all transfer presses, the • Eccentric drive: Present in all prog-die presses, the
link-drive system allows a lower drawing speed eccentric drive system yields higher output rates.
in the working range for parts that require
complex forming.

A New Concept in
the Press Basement
The S Series offers the option to equip the press
with vibration mounts to reduce static and
dynamic loads. In addition, air tanks and power
units are mounted onto the press body, leaving
the pit completely free for scrap conveyor
positioning. These features enable a standard-
ized pit design, and reduce the space and cost
required to install the press.

Longer Equipment Life

As with all Schuler presses, the S Series presses
are heat-treated to relieve stress from welding.
This heat treatment is important – it lowers
internal tensions and leads to better press quality.
The result is:
• Higher structural stability
• Higher dimensional precision
• Longer equipment life
2
FEATURES & BENEFITS

Integrated Herringbone Gear Sets

S Series presses are equipped with finely tuned,

double helical (Herringbone) gear sets, made of
nodular cast iron and gas-nitrided forged steel.
The smooth operation of this gear design extends
the life of the die, improves part quality, and reduces
ambient operating noise. All gears are manufactured
by Schuler to ensure consistent quality
and performance.

Easy Operator Interface

S Series presses incorporate an up-to-date,

user-friendly HMI control design, which provides
logical access to all main press functions. The
intuitive screen interface simplifies the training
required to operate the equipment.

Central Slide Locking

Schuler’s Central Slide Locking System permits fast

locking and unlocking of the press slide – in any
desired position. This ensures fast and safe access
to the die area without the need to move the press
slide into a predetermined position.

The Schuler Central Slide Lock is now approved as

an acceptable “ram block” device by the Canadian
Standard Association, which eliminates the need to
manually insert cumbersome ram blocks.
3
8-Point Slide Guiding System

The 8-point slide guiding system has high-quality

bronze inserts and wear-resistant guide strips –
another example of the S Series superior
quality. This rugged guiding system ensures
rigidity and excellent guiding characteristics to
achieve superior part quality and longer die service
life. The guide strips (gibs) are also designed for easy
readjustment and replacement.

IMPROVED PROTECTION WITH ONE OF THE

INDUSTRY’S LONGEST OVERLOAD TRAVEL
S Series presses incorporate the Schuler standard
2 inch (50mm) overload travel, which is one of the
highest levels of press protection in the market. This
degree of overload travel protects the press against
damage caused by double parts, misfeeds, dropped
blanks or similar issues.

On top of that, Schuler offers a 16 inch (410mm) slide

adjustment to enhance flexibility in the press shop.
