Pitch

This film is of a young woman who has been thought of as weak and vulnerable in the streets.
But what they don’t know about this woman is that she is quite lethal and people consider her
to be as delicate as a ladybug is actually more dangerous as a prey mantis. She always
manages to get her way and do her acts of horror while shaking the NYPD of her tail.

The character is 22-year-old New Yorker Rosetta Parks but known in the underworld as the
notorious killer Black Rose (played by Jennifer Lawrence). She is femme fatale who always
poses as a damsel in distress but really is targeting the wealthy to take their riches and their
power in the street. It all started when she was first abducted and was supposed to be used for
human trafficking but manage to capture her abductors pistol which then lead to her killing
him and taking his money and car which she then dumped later and uses the money as the
starting faze of her taking down the wealthiest and most powerful men of the city.

The male character of focus Joshua Dawkins (played by Tom Cruise), is the manager of a top
car manufacturing company and well known in the most famous bars and restaurants as the
‘MONEY MAKER’ as he is a quite a money squanderer and is always buying the most fancy
hotels and beautiful women that money can buy. He then sets eyes on Rosetta at one of the
restaurants and then gives much interest in her as she uses her hard to get techniques and
charm to woe him which led to him worshipping her as his so called ‘GODDESS’ but little does
he know he is the last target on her list to seal the deal.

she is quite violent but manages to keep herself from getting caught on to by the law.
Evaluation

When making a film the film opening is a crucial part of intriguing the audience to continue
watching. The opening is the start of the plot of your story line. It gives some reasoning for
anything that happens later on down in the film. They’re many things necessary to the film
opening to make it a successful start. These may include the company’s ident, clear
conventions to the genre, a good plot/twist to the film, list credits and how the characters of
the film are introduced.

The company’s ident is a massive part of the film opening. Such reasons may be the fact the
company’s ident that you use may have large supporters of the genre film you choose and the
company may produce a lot of the style genre film. In my film I used the 1927 ident for
universal studios as it was a well known film company in Hollywood by 1930 for having great
classic headlining films and had a large fan base and supporters which would interest the
audience to see it.

In my groups film opening I consider the conventions of the genre to be the most important
part of the film as the mise-en-scene (props, costume, location etc.) some of the main
conventions of the genre that I used in my film were use of shadow of character, femme
female, guns, big black jackets, braces and fedora, cigars, classic speech, lots of leg etc.
These help the noir atmosphere more visible to the audience and the genre stand out.

Over the time of the first scene of a film noir I have learnt a wide range of skills in learning how
to create films. Firstly I learnt how to do script writing and screenplay. In order for me to create
a successful script I considered the conventions the genre of the film (film noir) and research
successful mise-en-scene and the character profiling. My grouped and I considered having
narration in our script as it would make our film as it gave people an idea of what the
characters were thinking mentally and also an enigma code as to what is the main goal to what
the character did (killing his friend) and what happens to this character later on. Also at then
end of our film opening the femme fetale made a phone call as the man who was killed was her
husband she made a call to take care of ho killed her husband but we do not know who was on
the phone. This gives the audience reasoning to continue watching, as they want to know who
this person may be.

For my screenplay I had to consider mise-en-scene of film noir. I also needed to make sure
that I gave the examiner clear and detailed drawings of what I wanted to be created and
include as many conventions as possible. Many other factors would also make my screenplay
a success such as the duration of the shot, sounds and actions in the shot, camera angles and
the place where I considered I would make it.

For my film the audiences that my film would suit are film noir lovers, older generations and
the secondary audience would probably be couples, teens and young adults. Different
audiences that I have considered that would be great for views my group’s film are crime fans,
action lovers and also fans of classic movies.

Overall I think that the film was a success for things such as the camera angles used,
conventions my group and I use (character shadow, props etc.) and the editing of the film.
Areas i would have liked to explore or things that could have been incorporated in my
storyboard are more camera angles to have a more professional look on the film, the use of
arrows to show more prop and/or character movement in the storyboard and add more
conventions of the film as it makes the genre obvious straight away. Some conventions I
would choose next time are venetian blinds, a bar and characters hidden in the shadows and
for camera angles, movements and shot I would consider are low camera angle, long shot,
POV shot and tracking. In conclusion I feel confident that my story board has a clear
connection to the conventions of a film storyboard.
