Record your initial answers here without looking at answers. Once complete, fill in the correct
answers in the 2nd column. Use the online book and other resources to determine why you
chose an incorrect answer and write it out in the 3rd column.

Number Answer Correct Analysis

Answer

1 D D

2 C C

3 E E

4 A A

5 D D

6 D D

7 B B

8 B B

9 B A The answer is into the page because the electric force, which is
in the same direction of the electric field, will oppose the
magnetic force, which is coming out of the page using the
right-hand rule. Therefore, the electric field is into the page.

10 B B

11 D D

12 B B

13 B B

14 A E Here, I assumed that the charge would split in half between the
two spheres regardless of size. However, I realize now that
charge will distribute proportionately to the sphere’s radius.
Therefore, the value (q/r) will be the same for both spheres, and
the will have equal electric potentials.
15 A E I believed that negative/positive charged objects would attract
any object of either opposite charge or neutral charge. However,
I did not realize that insulators would be attracted as well.

16 B B

17 A A

18 C D I forgot to multiply by another ½ to get half the force. By

forgetting to do this step, I created a second positive charge that
would completely cancel out the forces rather than reduce the
original force by a factor of ½ like the problem stated to do.

Answer

19 B B

20 D D

21 E E

22 C E I made the mistake of multiplying F by the distance that the

particle travled to get work. However, work is supposed to be
the sum of the force along along a path. In this case, however,
force is always perpecdicular to the path and never in the same
direction. Therefore, the magnetic force does no work on the
particle!

23 B B

24 B E B is at a higher equipotential than A even though is appears

“lower” than A on the paper. Therefore, I mistakenly chose
postive work in the opposite direction than intended. It would
take positive work to move a particle from a lower equipotential
to a higher equipotential.

25 D D

26 B B

27 C C

28 A A

29 E C I assumed that we could simply find the energy stored in the

circuit by adding the energy stored in the inductor with the
energy being dissipated by the battery. However, the battery is
dissipating energy at a rate of IV, which means that this is not
summed in the equation when trying to find the energy stored.

30 C C

31 E E

32 B B

33 B C Inserting a metal sheet between both plates of a parallel plate

capacitor will have no effect on its capacitance. Only a dielectric
could increase the capacitance.

34 B B

35 A A

FRQ Analysis (Actual FRQ pictured on next page):

While correcting my FRQ, I found that I completely missed one section of a question

dealing with potential. The question I am referring to is question 1, part f. Looking over it a

second time, I still had no clue how the college board derived the graph of potential as a

function of meters. This is something that I will definitely have to touch base with again. I have

decided that the best way to do this is to watch a Khan academy video as a refresher on the

topic and go over the V=-∫Eᐧdr equation. Then, watching some videos from flipping physics as

he goes over a similar problem will help me get the concept down pretty solid.

Other small areas that I fell could be improved on include finding total charge from

sphere configurations, showing intermediate steps in order to not get points taken off, and

making sure that I am answering the question and addressing its specific parts - not just what I

think it wants to hear from reading the first time.
