Ms.

Villarreal’s
Classroom
Management
Portfolio
Introduction:
The purpose of this classroom management portfolio is to create a

foundation that will help me prepare for my very first year of teaching. My

ideal teaching grades are kindergarten and 1st, therefore, this portfolio is

intended to be utilized for those grade levels. With that in mind, I know this

will not be the final product. As I begin the first day, I know I will have to

remove, add, or adjust some of the content on this portfolio. With very much

excitement, however, I am creating a “blueprint” that will guide me towards

having a great, messy, first year!

Philosophical Statement:

As a student, I was able to tell which teachers had a passion for

teaching and which ones were just doing what they have to. I want to be the

teacher that students know and feel have a passion for teaching. I believe

that no classroom, students, or teachers are perfect. I do believe that some

days are going to be a bit messy and others are going to seem like we are in

a perfect movie, and as long as my students leave with more knowledge

than they came in with, we are succeeding as a classroom. I also believe that

I cannot be successful as a teacher if I do not build relationships with my

students. I learned throughout my student teaching experience, that

students show respect to those teachers that take time out of their day to

say, “I noticed you have new shoes!,” “I missed you yesterday, everything

okay?,” or a simple, “Good morning corazón.” I will create an environment

where students will be valued, appreciated, and loved. I will encourage all
my students to find passion for learning. I will set my expectations high

because I know they’ll be capable of doing more than they believe they can.

First Day of
School

A first day of school script would be essential. I

know I would be nervous, so having this will help me break the ice.

I would love to take pictures of my babies, then

hang up the pictures in my classroom.
The spinning wheel is a great
idea to get to know my students and it’s a very hands-on activity.

This will be an opportunity to send a

letter to parents introducing myself and letting them know that we are a
team.
Classroom
Procedures

In my placement, my mentor utilized

these hand signals and they worked amazing. I would use these for sure.

A fun way to get kids to line up is utilizing a fun song to

get the kids in line.
Behavior Chart

I really like this chart because I saw how

student’s behavior improved once their conduct was moved. Great way to
improve student’s behavior and not have to use your teacher voice.
Reward System

I think it is very important to make it clear that

consequences will happen if they do not follow rules as a class.
Student
Motivation:
When students are rewarded, they tend to do better and work harder! I
would have a treasure box.
Attention

Getters:
When students are being too noisy, or it’s time to

transition, I would use these attention getters.

1. “Un, dos, tres, ojitos a mi” … “Un, dos, tres,

ojitos a tu”

2. “Bidi, bidi”… “Boom, Boom”

3. Clapping signal

4. Using a bell
