Equity and Accessibility to Technology

In order for online learning to be succesfully implemented, accessibility to technology itself is

critical. Making e-learning accessible enhances the engagement of the learners. However,

because of the rapid technology advancement, technologies could be out-to-date even before it is

reachable to the public. In particular dividing rural and urban community in such a way that the

equitability of the users relies on Internet accessibility. (“Strengths and weaknesses of online

learning…, n.d.). Nevertheless, Kent (2015) suggests that people with disabilities are less likely

to enjoy the opportunities of online learning. As accessibility of the technology will be decided

mostly by the developers as well as those implements them, online-learning should be

individualised to people with disability.
