January 26, 2020 ‘To Whom It May Concern: Itis my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Emily Lane. For reasons included below and more she has the potential to be a top candidate for any instructional, educational, or leadership position for which she applies. Emily has been a high school science teacher at Humboldt Community School for about five years. She has demonstrated a commitment to her students and staff building their capacity to understand the science curriculum and she continues to involve them in meaningful learning experiences. She actively engages all her students and strives to incorporate components of the Iowa Core in daily lessons. Emily has a good content base of knowledge of the science curriculum. Mrs. Lane has taken on several roles of leadership with the district. She serves as a ‘Teacher Leadership & Compensation Middle and High School TLC Instructional Coach, the High Schoo! Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Instructional Coach, and as a leader on many high school teams. In all of her leadership roles, Emily has been an advocate for the teachers and has been very conscious in developing her leadership capacity and the professional growth of her peers. She takes an active role in leading the middle and high school education departments as the Science Instructional Coach. In this position she has led her team through the adoption of science materials, the implementation of this new science curriculum, and buiding an understanding the Dimensions of the Next Generation Science Standards, During the past couple of years Emily has been working on her administrative degree and has had a positive impact on creating plans and documents like district job descriptions, a school emergency poster, and a district MTSS plan as a way to move the district forward. She has been receptive to new ideas and has gone that extra mile to help meet the ‘educational needs of all students, as well as the staff and district initiatives. It is evident through her commitment to the district that she has a passion for education, children, and establishing paths to move the district forward.
