When I was in university, I was offered the opportunity to study an academic

semester in Mexico. It was something totally new to me, I had never traveled by
plane and much less out of the country. There were many questions and emotions
inside me, but I saw it as an opportunity to grow personally and professionally, I
was sure I could not miss this opportunity.  At first it was difficult, it was a drastic
change, I didn't know the city, I didn't have friends and I missed my family a lot,
but I had to deal with it. The first few weeks were difficult, university was far from
home, and I wasn't familiar with transportation, so I was late for class several
times. Also, the food was different from what I was used to, it was quite spicy, so I
had trouble eating, but I was determined to adapt to these new conditions and
move on. In the end, I met new people who made me feel at home, allowing me to
enjoy this great experience in the best way, I learned a lot from them. If
I  hadn't accepted this opportunity, I wouldn't have known this country and its
culture. Also, if I hadn't accepted this challenge, I wouldn't have met my wife and
friends.  It was a great experience.
