Executive Summary
Many times new moms have constant fears about how is the baby’s heartbeat, and
how to be in a position that does not affect the baby. So, that is why we have this
product calling the Owlet Band. Now even expectant moms can know their baby is
okay. It will cost a total of 50.000 Chilean pesos.
As a company we seeking the benefit so that all the country's parents can obtain
this wonderful product, with the possibility that it reaches every corner of Chile, we
want to expand our ties with the Ministry of Social Development and Family.
Introduction
I am a computer programmer and software engineer of the Duoc Uc Institute. I am
currently working in a software development company called Owlet Care, which
seeks the well-being of babies in their initial stage of life, and the peace of mind of
parents when using monitoring products, where they can observe through their
mobile devices the status of their baby. I’m work as a Project Manager, where I
evaluate and bet on new technology developments innovating in the market and
optimizing existing products to the times and technology of today.
With knowledge in web and mobile application development.
Knowledge in business marketing and project planning, obtained in Sercotec
training courses.
Pregnancy is one of the best times of the woman, a different stage for the couple, a
time of reflection and self-knowledge, and probably will happen a few times in your
life.
It is a beautiful path in which if you follow a few guidelines, all of them very logical
you can continue to make your normal life, do not be overwhelmed or stressed
before your time.
For this, one day seeing a relative how she endured her pregnancy, restricting
many activities for fear of harming her baby, or sometimes not having knowledge
about his beats, and insomnia that passed for fear of hurting your baby, motivated
me to design a band called Owlet Band of soft and thin fabric that envelops the
abdomen and the lower part of a woman's back in the sweet wait, it is a mental
tranquility machine for the future and anxious parents.

Problem Statement
Intrauterine fetal death due to uteroplacental insufficiency usually occurs
between obstetric evaluations when gestation is not being actively
monitored.
I have identified common problems or worries that mothers suffer in their first
pregnancy, problematic as if there will be beats? Is everything all right? Will they
be one or two babies? , worries that usually appear during the first trimester of
pregnancy.
The most repeated concern in the mothers are Fear of losing the baby and Fear of
hurting the baby, it's something that worries throughout the pregnancy, especially
in what position to sleep because some people say they can sleep on the left side
and some people say they can sleep on the right side, generating doubts and
discomfort at the time of sleeping of the mother to not avoid damaging any organ of
the baby.
Previous studies have reported that going-to-sleep supine may increase late
stillbirth (≥28 weeks’) risk by more than two-fold compared to left side going-
to-sleep position. However, it is not clear if this risk differs between preterm
(≥28-36 weeks’) and term (≥37 weeks’) gestations.
There are many news portals or blogs where they mention this type of problem, but
they do not offer a technological and comfortable solution like the one I am looking
for, taking into account that there are long periods of appointments with the doctor,
which means that you can’t always know exactly how is the baby, causing anxiety
problems in the mother.

I wish this had been available four years ago when I lost my son at 39
gestational weeks due to a kink in his cord. This technology could’ve saved his
life!
My husband and I often debate whether we want to try for another child, but
the idea of losing another baby is holding us back. This would be a game
changer for us.

I hope you all are able to save many families from the heartache of enduring a
stillbirth with this new technology.
Target Population
The target audience is to reach the majority of the Chilean population and families,
specifically women of a certain age range, from adolescent pregnancies that often
arise to women of 40 years and over.
Taking into account that in Chile every day there are 688 births as established by
the INE (National Institute of Statistics), and annually around 231,749 births.
Table showing live births, crude birth rates and relative variation of regional rates
with respect to national rates.
Goal
As a team, we decided to develop a fetal ECG (Electrocardiogram) monitor that
can be used throughout the day to confirm fetal well-being.
Rapid advances in the development of “wearable” physiologic monitors linked to
smart phone apps allow us to envision novel methods for evaluating the health of a
pregnancy, potentially allowing intervention before fetal death or damage from
asphyxia occur. And, thus attending to the mother's recurring concerns

Chronogram
For the development of the project a method is used based on the cascade
methodology, which has a sequential process, separating the development of the
project in stages one after the other.
The first Project Management, once completed, enters the project planning stage,
after the completion of this stage, the Project Development goes on and finally the
execution of the project.

Conclusion
Wake up to important insights into the wellness of your developing infant during the
second and third trimesters of pregnancy
By taking into account the use of soft and comfortable fiber blends, Owlet Band
embraces the growing body shape and change of the mother from 24 weeks to full
term and uses passive and reliable ECG technology 30 times smaller than a
technology comparable. Due to their thin qualities, the sensors provide exceptional
comfort without compromising the quality of the signal to "place a network" of
sensors over the entire abdomen and track the well-being of an unborn baby while
moving inside the womb.

Appendix
Sentiment amongst over 300 pregnant women tested internally has been extremely
positive, with respondents noting the No. 1 benefit of the Owlet Band being the
assurance that their baby is okay. In addition, they stated feeling even more peace
of mind being able to hear their baby’s heartbeat and view live readings via the
app.

Our previous project launched in 2017 called The Owlet Smart Sock baby monitor
uses clinically-proven technology to track your infant's heart rate and oxygen
levels. Using Bluetooth, the Smart Sock sends this information to the base station
which is designed to notify you with lights and sounds if something appears to be
wrong. Using Owlet's app, you can see real-time wellness data and receive direct
notifications on your phone.
