CALLED OR COLD?

Tinawag o Tinamad?

Mateo 4:17 – 22
17

Message:
Those who hear Christ’s call will end up as his disciples.

I. He must REPENT (v17)

 Salvation begins in repentance
i. Mindset
ii. Passion
iii. Lifestyle
 Repentance involves change in direction
i. Away from the pride of life
ii. Away from cravings and lusts.
 The direction must be towards God’s Kingdom.
i. His purpose
ii. Mission
iii. Kingdom

“You cannot reconcile your salvation along with your unchanging life and lifestyle”

II. He must FOLLOW (vv. 18 – 22)

 Obedience begins in hearing the message.
i. It catches attention
ii. It clears up the mind
iii. It gives life to the spirit
 The message is to make disciple

Specific calling: Jesus did not ask them what they want to do for him. He is King (Lord) and He must be
obeyed
 Making disciple is immediate

Whatever you do, wherever you are, whatever you have, whoever you are with.

“Your faith can only be proven by your obedience. There is no genuine faith in a person who does not follow Jesus’
life and mission.”

Conclusion:
The root of all problem is lack of (desire for) discipleship.
If a person is not properly taught from the very beginning of his faith and journey, he will not and cannot be a disciple of
Christ.
Genuine faith begins in repentance and when a person repented, he becomes a disciple of Jesus all of his life, not cold
but called!
