Daily Lesson Log in Physical Science 7
I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Explain the melting and boiling points of selected elements;
2. Predicting results of an experiment for the properties of substances;
3. Infer that the properties of substances are greatly influenced by the nature of chemical
forces in the substances;
II. CONTENT:
Topic: The Structure and Properties of Matter
Subtopic: The Properties of Substances
Materials: https://www.quipper.com
III. ACTIVITY:
1. Determining the electric conduction of some matter
2.Predicting the polarity of some molecules
IV. ANALYSIS:
1. Why do atoms have different melting and boiling points?
2. Why is He, Ne and Argon stable?
V. ABSTRACTION:
The covalent molecules with symmetrical shape result in nonpolar molecules, when it is
unsymmetrical the molecules are said to be polar molecules. Those with high atomic weight
usually has higher melting and boiling points.
VI. APPLICATION:
1. What the difference among the three chemical bonds: ionic, covalent and metallic?
2. Why do you think protons do not participate in chemical bonding?
VII. ASSIGNMENT/ AGREEMENT:
How is the equilibrium of a chemical reaction achieved?
