DAILY LESSON LOG IN PHYSICAL SCIENCE

DATE: January 24, 2018

I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Explain the solubility of selected elements as an effect intermolecular forces of attraction;
2. Classify some compounds according to their intermolecular forces of attraction;
3. Infer that the properties of substances such as the mixing of compounds to form new
compounds are greatly influenced by the nature of chemical forces in the substances;
II. CONTENT:
Topic: The Structure and Properties of Matter
Subtopic: The Properties of a substance as Effect of Intermolecular Forces of
Attraction
Materials: https://www.quipper.com
III. ACTIVITY:
1. Determining the solubility of some compounds with other compounds
2.Classifying some compounds according to intermolecular forces
IV. ANALYSIS:
1. Why do atoms have different solubility rates?
2. Why can’t polar and non-polar molecules be mixed together?
V. ABSTRACTION:
The covalent molecules with symmetrical shape result in nonpolar molecules, when it is
unsymmetrical the molecules are said to be polar molecules. Those with high atomic weight
usually has higher melting and boiling points.
VI. APPLICATION:
1. What is the difference among the three intermolecular forces: dipole-dipole, hydrogen
bonding and Van der Waals?
2. What part of the atom participate in intermolecular forces?
VII. ASSIGNMENT/ AGREEMENT:
What are the uses of the different materials according to their properties and structures of
Medical Implants?
