Sentencing Hearing

Dear Mr. Dent:

The purpose of this letter is to remind you of your upcoming sentencing hearing set for
8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. Your sentencing hearing is located at the Williamson
County courthouse at 200 West Jefferson Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.

The following information is what you will need for your upcoming sentencing hearing;
arrive at least 20 minutes earlier than the scheduled time. Please dress appropriately; remember
to bring your Social Security card, driver’s license, class schedule, and transcript to your
sentencing hearing.

I will meet you at the courthouse. Please remember to leave your phone in the car.
When your case is called, the judge will ask if both parties have read the pre-sentence report, and
if there are any additions or corrections. Point out if there is any wrong information on the pre-
sentence report.

The prosecution will make their finishing statements at this time. I will state that you
pled guilty to the charge; therefore, asking the court to keep this information in account when
determining the sentence.

I will inform the judge that you are a current student at Southern Illinois University-
Carbondale. I will present your class schedule, which is as follows: one class on Monday from
2:30 p.m. through 3:45 p.m., one class on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. through 8:45 p.m., as well as
two classes on Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. through 3:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. through 8:45
p.m. I will also inform the judge that you have two online classes. Please advise me if the
above schedule is incorrect.

I will point out how well you are performing in your studies and ask the judge to allow
you to do community service or jail time on the weekends. Therefore, you will still be able to
attend class.
