Context: Today, students have been given a mini-lesson on how to incorporate a direct quote

into their writing and what the difference is between that and paraphrasing. They learned how to
introduce a quote and how to give commentary, along with proper MLA formatting. Last week,
they were given an assignment to draft an essay about what diversity means to them. They were
required to use at least one direct quote and one paraphrase in the essay.
