The gem project was eye-opening to say the least.

At first, I just assumed the survey was a

clichè 1st day ritual used to help the teacher understand the student more. In other words, I was

honest but I thought nothing of it. Once I finished I counted up how much of each answer I had ;

A's, B's etc. As it turns out, my answers showed that I had a "pearl" personality. Great, now the

big question is, "what does that mean?". Again, being the pessimist that I am, I just assumed that

this would turn into an assignment with great potential that we'd never go back to. Boy was I

surprised.

A few days later, Mrs. Jones came in to explain what each gem meant. Now, this wasn't some

boring PowerPoint presentation. No, she came in and acted each gem out, explained the traits

and their "language". This not only allowed me to understand myself more, but I was given the

rare chance to understand my friends deeper. Throughout the year I saw my peers portray at least

one of the points. It was a truly beautiful experience. I'd reccomend it in every class if possible.
