Most SD42 online resources can be accessed at school without login credentials, but require login from home. A few resources like World Book and Explora always require login. Login information is provided for resources like Tumblebooks, Gale databases, Novelist, and Curio.ca. Detailed instructions are given for accessing the Media Smarts site, including an activation code, creating an account, validating the account, creating classrooms and student logins, and how students can access and share their results. Media Smarts can be accessed through the SD42 staff tabs under Online Resources.

Most resources authenticate (don’t need a login) at school. At home, login is required.
A few resources always need a login.

access code. Use this access code:

Media Smarts: Passport to the Internet (Gr. 4-8) and MyWorld (Gr. 9-12)
To access the site, follow these steps:

1. Create your account by clicking on this


link [Link] and entering this Activation Code:

2. You will then be asked to enter your email address, create a new password, enter your name
and select your institution by typing its name into the search fields and click the Submit button
at the bottom of the page.

3. You will next receive an email asking you to validate your account.
4. You can then login and access the resources.
5. To provide your students with access create your classrooms by using the Classrooms tab in the
horizontal menu at the top of the screen and add your students’ names so the site can create
their unique login information.
6. Share the login information with your students and they can then login here:

PLEASE NOTE: In order to evaluate your students’ progress in Passport to the Internet and in MyWorld
using the new secure site [Link], students will need to either print or take screenshots of
their results as they appear and provide them to their teacher by email or on paper. For information on
