STUDENTS THERAPISTS

IPETH (Professional Institute of Therapy and Humanities) is a university

based in Puebla, Mexico, founded in 2006, offering Bachelors degrees in
physical therapy. It primarily targets low-income students who would not
  program. IPETH focuses on
normally enroll in a four-year degree
providing world class instruction and solid employment opportunities for
alumni, by partnering with physical therapy clinics and an
entrepreneurship program. It is rapidly expanding, with four campuses in
Mexico City and Puebla, new undergraduate and post-graduate programs.

The founder of IPETH, Alejandro Cuervo,
initially wanted
  to create
  a clinic of
different specialties, but he realized he
didn’t have enough money, and it would
require too much infrastructure.

Once the idea of a training school for

physiotherapists formed, Cuervo did
research, and asked his father and other
doctors to join him in creating this
school. They obtained 13 investors (all
friends of his father, and medics).

After several ventures, Alejandro realized
that there was a great lack of professional
physiotherapists in Mexico. This was not
only a risk for the population, but also a
growing need given the large number of
people who require rehabilitation services
due to birth defects, accidents, sports
injuries or physical inactivity.

 WHAT I KNOW
One morning, over breakfast with his
father, Cuervo spoke about the lack of
physiotherapists in Mexico and that
there was no school to train them.
According to what Cuervo remembers –
“that night I felt that everything was
pointing in one direction, my knowledge
in management, spending vacations
working at my father’s clinics, my past
experiences in other aspects of
entrepreneurship.”

of Accounting and Finance and
Actuary, respectively.

the medical community through his

the possibility of being contracted in
Recovery, CRIPETH or Teravy,
rehabilitation clinics that are also
operated by the IPETH system.
