Fernandez,

The Theater Department is asking for your approval and support in a spring-time project
involving our feeder pattern.

One of our students, in collaboration with Mrs. Rascon from the Mariachi Department,
has written an original musical called, “La Soldadera”, based on local Mexican history.

We request your permission to tour our feeder pattern with this play. The tour dates
would be Thursday May 21st and Friday May 22nd, and the students involved would be gone all
day, as they’d be touring during the school hours. The tour cast is comprised of 6 theatre students
and 6 mariachi students. Mrs. Keyser and Mrs. Rascon would accompany the students and
supervise the tour.

The District Fine Arts Department has expressed support in this production and offered
financial support with transportation.

This event would not only give Middle School students a chance at in-depth collaboration
with our Theatre and Mariachi program, but also serve as a great introduction to the Fine Arts for
our Elementary School students, expanding our efforts to create a more vertically-integrated
theater program here at El Dorado High School. Likewise, this would give our High School
students the opportunity to work in a different environment, experiencing a touring show.
