Indian Poetry is the expression of human life from times eternal.

India in fact has


a long tradition of arts and poetry from ages. Colonialism gave a new language,
English for the expression of Indians. Poetry is a creative and aesthetic activity
having three major components- experience, beauty and emotion. Poetry is an art of
communication experience. India is a vast subcontinent, Many languages found in
India has its own literature. Each writer wishes his creation to be reached all the
corners of the globe. So, Indian writer those who were writing in their mother
tongue wants their creation to be translated into English as English is nationally
understood and appreciated after independence but Indian poets faced a lot of
criticism and struggle. With the reference of Bruce king he says in his essays that
indian poetry in English took new direction after independence. They faced a
challenge from older nationalists who demanded a renaissance of the culture of pre-
colonial languages of india. Indian poetry in English have been neglected by most
critics, by foreign readers and intellectuals for it has no obvious direct
relationship to the cultural movements . which led to national independence
