Lesson Plan Format 2
Lesson Plan Format 2
Learning Targets:
Using the hour hand and minute hand, they will be able to tell time on a regular
clock and a digital clock
Materials Needed: Little teaching clocks for the kids, a big teacher clock, 2 worksheets,
pencils, a whiteboard, and a white board marker
Teaching/Instructional Practice
Anticipatory Set: I will show them a clock video on YouTube that sings a song while also
asking them questions to answer. This gets them in a happy mood while also refreshing
what they already know about clocks.
Process:
2. While they are listening to the song, they will answer the time questions on their
own little teaching clocks.
3. I will also go around and check that their clocks show the correct time.
4. After the song is over, I will explain what each part on the clock means.
5. I will use the trick that the hour hand is the shorthand and a way to remember it is
that hour is a short word, so it is the shorthand. The minute hand is the long hand
and the word minute is longer.
6. I will also explain that when the minute hand is on 12 that means it is the beginning
of the hour.
7. Throughout the lesson I will show examples on my own big teacher clock.
Closing: I will have an exit ticket for the kids to complete. It will be a worksheet with
pictures of clocks that the kids will have to answer what time it is.
Assessment:
Formative: The formative assessment was when they had to answer the questions on the
video with the little teaching clocks, I gave them.
Summative: The summative essay is when I gave them a worksheet/ exit ticket to complete
after the lesson.
