I’ll practice for two hours learning the tunes. Those two hours will consist of all of the
physical work I can do with the songs: singing the tunes, transposing the tunes, and
work on the instrument. In my spare time I will investigate other aspects of the tune that
don’t have to do with my instrument. I will keep a list of the tune I work on each week. I
will work on two songs every week. If I work diligently at this rate, I will be able to learn
all 500 tunes in 5 years.

2 hours a day (1 hr for each song)

2.) Study the Arranging and Composition Styles of the Jazz Masters

In order to become familiar with arranging and composition, I will transcribe some of the
arrangements of the Jazz masters. Once a month I will transcribe the harmony and
arrangement of a great band.

1 day per month

3.) Compose/Arrange regularly

Compose/Arrange one new tune every week
