ASHRAE 2006 Chapter 33 Insulation System for Refrigerant piping ASME 831.3 Process Piping ASTM E84 Surface Burning Characteristic of Building ASTM E96, ‘Water Vapour transmission of Materials in Sheet Form ASTM C547 Specification for Mineral Fibre Preformed Pipe Insulation ASTM C592 Specification for Mineral Fiber Blanket Insulation and Blanket-Type pipe Insulation ASTM C1729-16 Standard specification for aluminum Jacketing for insulation ASTM C534 Standard specification for performed flexible elastomeric cellular thermal insulation in sheet and tubular form Speceatn fr Co nsulions (reer mamoer 6475012 Dosamert mare 2888110 Pigeelto 3 DESIGN 3.4 General a). Piping shall be insulated according to type of insulation stated in the PIDs. b) CONTRACTOR shall provide detailed drawings and catalogues, description of the design, application procedures of all type of insulation to COMPANY for review and approval CONTRACTOR shall ascertain that the thickness provided is suitable for given material and the operating temperature, ©) Insulation or cladding, which can be removed without being damaged, shall be provided on piping, wherever required to meet the operating requirement. 1d) Insulation adjacent to flanges in piping and equipment shall be left short to allow removal of bolts without damage to insulation. Minimum free space from the fiange to the nearest part of the insulation shall be equal to the bolt length + 25mm + 2 nuts length (space requirement to be reviewed for bolt tensioner, if applicable). €) In general, valves, flanges and inline instrument shall not be insulated. f) This insulation spectfication shall not apply to HVAC insulation. 9) Insulation materials containing asbestos shall not be used h) Metal cladding/jacketing shall be used for piping insulation for weather proofing/protection, i) Aluminium jacketing thickness (0.8 mm for jacket diameter up to and including 200 mm. 4.0 mm for jacket diameter above 200 mm. |) The insulation is required for piping : = Cold conservation = Preventing vapor condensation on the outside surface of the cold insulating system of piping and equipment having temperature below the dew point of the surrounding atmosphere, = Personnel protection from hot or cold surfaces (cold and hot burning) k) Where several small bore pipes are routed together in bundles, it may be advantageous to insulate them in @ common insulation package. CONTRACTOR shall be free to propose the alternative where he considers itis an advantage subject to COMPANY approval 3.2 Insulation Classification The various insulation types are described as follows: Cold Insulation (C) Where required to prevent condensation on the outside surface of the insulating system, conserve low temperature or control heat input to the contained fluid within a temperature range of ambient and below. PT Toba gone ‘Spectator Cos raisons ‘Order uber: 64715012 Document umber 2868110 3.3 Hot Insulation (H) Where required to conserve high temperature or control heat loss from the contained fluid within the specified temperature range. Metal Cladding/Jacketing a) Straight pipe shall have Aluminium cladding wrapped around with a 50 mm minimum overlap on both longitudinal and citcumferential seam. b) Aluminium cladding used on pipework shall be so arranged that it sheds water and both longitudinal and circumferential overlaps shall be rendered watertight with sealant ¢) Joints in the cladding at pipe tees, branch welds, etc. Shall be sealed 4) To prevent water ingress and under lagging corrosion the vapor barriers and metallic jacketing should be properly selected and applied. All insulated metel surfaces shall be suitably painted The insulation shall then be finished with a primary vapor barrier on the outside and surrounded with 2 metallic jacketing MATERIALS Generals All materials shall be selected in accordance with the requirements specified and shall be new, undamaged and free from contamination. Insulation material shall have the following general properties: a) Completely free from all forms of asbestos b) Material shall not cause a known hazard to health during application while in use, or on removal, either from particulate matter or from toxic furnes. ©) Chemically neutral, with pH preferably between 6 and 9 in the wet conditions 4) Water soluble chloride and fluoride shall not be present e) Non-combustible f) Non-corrosive to those metal surfaces to which it is applied regardless of coating systems applied 9) Impervious to water and chemical h) Have sufficient compressive strength that the method of fixing and finish shall not damage the insulation ') Physical properties, particularly thermal transfer properties, shall meet the requirements of the applicable standard so that they do not vary significantly from batch to batch. This is particularly important when process conditions must be kept within a specified temperature range. |) Insulation and cladding material backed with flammable material s Not acceptable. Bevel and seal ends of insulation at equipment, flanges, and unions i) For exterior applications or locations where abrasion or damage may occur, provide weather protection jacket. Insulated pipe, fittings, accessories joints, and valves shall be covered with aluminium jacket. Jacket seams shall be located on bottom side of horizontal piping. i) Apply prefabricated sectional insulation for straight pipes neatly fitted around the piping, and sealed with adhesive. Apply adhesive to only one side of each joint and not to pipe surface. TESTING AND INSPECTIONS a) The CONTRACTOR shall ensure that the insulation materials/system meet the design cold insulation requirements. b) Equipment and materials shall be subjected to inspection during the process of manufacture and application and CONTRACTOR shall allow the COMPANY access to inspect all stages of the insulation installation. ©) The COMPANY reserves the right to inspect parts in the manufacturing process and to review and approve procedures used by the VENDOR or any of his SUB-VENDORS. ¢) Surface coating and painting on pipeworklequipment shall be inspected and repaired if necessary prior to the commencement of insulation application as per the “2687120_Spectfications for surface preparation, Painting and coating’. €) The CONTRACTOR shall carry out the following checks: + Storage conditions and weather conditions during application meet the specified requirement. + Check all coating and painting are intact prior to insulation. + Check insulation is correctly fitted with staggered joints and that sections are correctly butted to mating face. ‘+ Check metal cladding/iacketing is correctly fitted to shed water. 4) The CONTRACTOR and/or VENDOR shall facilitate the Company in carrying out his inspections and give reasonable notice to enable inspection arrangement to be made Pr Tebein indonesia ‘Specteaion fr Co Iaitions (rder amber 84786012 Document number 286510 Revlon 8 ay 25.2018, Page 10170, 7 APPENDIX ~1 FLEXIBLE ELASTOMERIC INSULATION Table 1 - Flexible Elastomeric Insulation Pare Pipe Operating Temperature, °C mn + 7 2% -w -0 -3 —70 1s 25 25 40 40 50 50 50 20 25 25 40 50 50 50 65 25 25 25 40 50 50 50 65 40 a 2 40 50 50 65 1S 50 25 25 50 50 50 65 78 65 28 40 50 50 65 65 75 75 25 40 50 50 65 65 - 100, 25 40 50 65 65 75 75 125 40 40 50 65 65 75 90 150 40 50 50 65 75 78 90 200 40 50 50 6S 15 7s 90 250 40 50 50 6S 15 90 90 300 40 50 50 6S 15 90 100 350 40 50 65 65 5s 90 100 400 40 50 65 65 90 90 100 450 «40-50 6S 6S 90-90 100115 5004050 S759 90 «100s 600 4050 6S 75-90 100 100115 70 40 «50 65 75.90 100 100115 730 «40-50 6S 7S 90 100 10015 goo 4050S 7591001515
