FOREWARD
CHECK UPON ARRIVAL
Your pump was carefully checked at our shops prior to shipment to assure its
meeting the high standards required by the specifications.
It is suggestedthe pump be inspectedupon arrival and that any irregularitiesarising
due to shipping be reported immediatelyto the carrier.
CARE DURING STORAGE
If it is necessary to store the pump any length of time before installation, find a
location where it will be protected from unfavorableweather.
The nozzle covers provided with the pump should be left in place during storage.
RUST PREVENTIVE
Internals parts of pumps and bearing housing are protected prior to shipment by
flushing with thin polar type rust preventive.
Parts on parts orders are protected with thin film polar type rust preventive.
Take all possible care not to contaminateyour system.
FOUNDATION
Experience has shown that foundations made of concrete are the most suitable.
Vibration from other machinery as well as the building is reduced to a minimum
when the foundations are massive and are isolated by means of a construction joint.
The elevation drawing, which is furnished in advance of pump shipment, provides all
necessary anchor bolt information.
EXTERNAL LUBRICATION
The pump stuffing box is designedwith a 1/2" pipe tap. This connection should be
piped to a clean fresh water supply for use as lubricating liquid. The lubricating
requirementsare 5 GPM at 15 to 20 PSIG.
A hand regulating valve should be installed in the line, close to the pump, to
control lubricating liquid.
Inject lubricating liquid into the pump ten to fifteen minutes before start-up.

INSTALLATION OF PUMPINGUNIT
1. Remove bracing and covers that were used for shipping purposes.
2. Rig unit with slings as shown in sketch.
3. Raise unit with hoists raise pump into a vertical position.
4. Lower unit into pit and make up foundation bolting.
5. Make up piping connection as shown on general arrangementdrawing.

INSPECTION OF PARTS
Wire brush and clean all pump parts.
Mount each section of the shaft on rollers or "V" blocks at coupling bearing or
impeller areas. Indicated runout at any of these three locations should not exceed
.005". Maximum allowable runout at any otehr area of shaft shall not exceed .015"
+ .001" per foot of shaft length.
Inspect impeller ring (4) and casing ring (6). These rings are renewable. To remove
grind welds and cut the rings and remove from fits.

To replace the impeller ring (4) heat to approximately 250 degrees F. and place on
fit.

Tack weld ring in place.

'Mike" rings for roundnessand clearances.
Ring clearanceis .022" to .026"
Inspect and clean all journal areas.

Inspect the impeller and casing for cracks.

Inspect bearings (138A/B/C) and replace as required.

Set screws in journal sleeves must be installed with locking resin.
