Osteoporosis affects many people from all ancestries for different reasons. Ten Million Americans over
age of 50 years old have osteoporosis, otherwise known as, “The Brittle Bone” condition. Osteoporosis
affects white women of Northern European ancestry more often than other humans due to an
osteoporosis genetic complex that is triggered by estrogen deficiency occurring at menopause. Over the
next 50 years, 15% white women who live beyond 50 years old will be affected with osteoporosis. White
men who have the same genetic complex as white women can also be affected with Idiopathic
osteoporosis but 60% of men have fewer fractures than white women. Osteoporosis can affect, African
Americans, Asians, and Hispanics as well but their fracture rates are about 40% lower than white
women, with African Americans at 60% lower fracture rates. [ CITATION Ost19 \l 1033 ]
