SUBJECT: Habitat for Humanity Washington County
DATE: March 1, 2020

Situation: Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit housing organization since 1976. Habitat is
located in local communities such as Washington County. Habitat wants to create a world
where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat helps build low-income family houses. The
organization needs volunteers and donations, along with an increase of awareness to its
furniture store, ReStore, which acts as funding for the organization as well.

Intended Audiences: There are two sectors of the intended audience, the first sector is middle-
aged women, but the organization also targets men 35 to mid-50s as volunteers as well as
donors. Habitat already has a main audience of women in their mid-30s to mid-50s, and it is
important to keep that demographic as well as expand to men and college students. The other
sector of the intended audience is college students as listed above. College students can be
great volunteers.

Strategy and Tactics: The main strategy is to increase volunteer sign-ups, along with increasing
exposure to Restore, and encourage repeat donations. One tactic to support this can be having
the Habitat for Humanity chapter on-campus visit all of the sororities and fraternities on
campus during their chapter meetings on Mondays to encourage an increase in volunteer sign-
ups. Another tactic to support this strategy is to share the stories of the families on social media
platforms to help promote donations and also promote Restore throughout social media
platforms.

Research: To execute this project, we must know how many students are already volunteering
and then see if the number increases after the chapter visits. We could also conduct a survey to
see how many people in Washington County know about Restore. Many residents in the area
would probably take advantage of ReStore’s offerings if they had more knowledge of it.

Evaluation: An increase of volunteers along with monetary donations will be used to measure
the success of this project.
