Please refer to the subject cited above.

With reference to Agenda received for the meeting of Faculty of Engg. & Tech. to be
held on 31.03.2019, following issues related to the first-year scheme are brought to your kind
notice: -

1. The proposed syllabus of Physics for Materials (BSC 106) for first year
Mechanical Engineering has been set up from the Materials Science subject which is
meant for higher classes students and the prerequisites required for pursuing this
course are Solid State Physics and Basic Materials Science. Further, some of the
topics covered in the proposed subject are also covered in Material and Heat
Treatment course of the 6th semester Mechanical Engineering.
2. The number of credits and scheme structure for all first-year
branches should be the same. This to make sure that the students whose
branch is changed are not affected and their credit requirement in the new
branch they join is maintained.
3. There are two courses on Engineering Mechanics, EM -1 and
EM-2. However only one course is required.
4. AICTE model curriculum that has already been accepted by the
Panjab University needs to be followed.

It is therefore requested to include the above points in the agenda of the said
meeting.
