Planning and Implementation

Component 3.d: Plan and implement individualized instruction for diverse student
needs, adding specific accommodations and/or modifications for all students.

Artifact: PED 356 Adapted Physical Education & Sport Student Individualized Education
Plan

Date: Fall 2019

Reflection:

My ability to plan and implement individualized instruction was assessed in PED

356 Adapted Physical Education and Sport. In this class I had the opportunity to work
with children who had different needs. This program was one night a week and lasted
all semester. This gave me plenty of time to really get to know my students and teach
them as much as possible. I was able to assess my students on their locomotor and
manipulative skills at the start of the semester and the end to see growth and
improvement.

My Individualized Education Plan for one of my students relates to component

3.d in the following manner. This IEP consisted of a large amount of data and
information about my student. I was able to analyze my student across all of the
domains and so much more. This IEP allowed me to see where my student needed help
and how I could deliver my teaching to them in the best possible way. I then created
short term and long term goals that I planned to have my student achieve over time. We
worked on these goals in lab and were very successful. I used a variety of teaching
strategies to see what worked best, and took everything such as health and behavior
into consideration. Finally, I was able to decide where I believe my student should be
placed when it comes to physical education class.

Planning and implementation of students with diverse needs is important

because you are responsible for their learning. When it comes to something such as an
IEP the students future of learning physical education is in your hands. It is important to
take serious consideration and time when deciding what level a student should be
learning at. As a quality physical education teacher you must be able to meet the needs
of all your students.
