Written report in Teaching Social Studies in Intermediate Grade

I. Introduction
My report is anout Conceptual Approach. Conceptual Approach is the process of
defining concepts by finding those attributes that are absolutely essential to the
meaning and disregarding those that are not.
II. Analyis
Conceptual approach have advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of
conceptual approach are encouraging students to understand the topic, not to
recall. And focusing on the result of the learning procedure. Disadvantages, it
takes longer time to the students to accomplish.
III. Content
CONCEPTUAL APPROACH
 It is choosing and defining content of a certain discipline to be taught through the
use of big and pervasive ideas.
✘ CONCEPTUAL APPROACH
 It using the content as means of leading the students to discover or the laws and
principles or generalizations that govern a particular subject or discipline,.
✘ Example 1:
Ask pupils to draw a number of triangles. Ask them to measure the three
angles.
They will find their sum. They will find that the sum of the three angles of
all triangle is 180o.
✘ Example 2:
Ask the pupils to find the sum of two (2) odd numbers like
3+5=8, 5+7+12, 9+11=20, etc.
They will find that the sum of two (2) odd numbers is an even numbers.
IV. Conclusion
Conceptual learning empowers students to utilize what is important or
what they have just experienced to more readily understand the new
topics.
