You are on page 1of 1

So far, we have covered four different branches of linguistics: phonology, morphology, semantics and

syntax. Now, you must choose two different branches and design two presentations (prezi, power point,
etc). In each presentation you have to teach a particular aspect of language from a branch of linguistics.
Let’s imagine you choose morphology, you can teach your students job suffixes like -er, -or, –ist, and –
ian; another example can be to teach negative prefixes such as -un, -im, -il, etc. Remember that it is your
presentation and you decide what you want to teach. Bear in mind that you will choose the level and
age of the students you will teach (You are not actually teaching, but you need to decide as if you were
teaching for real). If you choose to teach an advanced topic to an advanced level of students, or a basic
level to basic students, it is possible.

For each presentation, I want you to include a rationale answering the following questions:

 Description of the group (number of students, age, level of English)

 Why did you decide to teach it (branch of linguistics)?
 How to teach it (branch of linguistics)?
 Potential problems teaching it (branch of linguistics)?
 If you had to teach you presentation, do you think your students would understand what you
are teaching them?
 How important do you think is to teach that branch of linguistics?

Remember that I am not expecting a lesson plan, I am expecting only a rationale.
