5 Maintenance, keeping and troubleshooting

The correct maintenance & keeping can not only ensure trans-
loading vehicle in good condition, but also prolong its service life. Therefore,
the trans-loading vehicle element should establish practical & feasible
responsibility system, and seriously execute “3-frequents” (frequent wiping,
frequent maintenance, frequent inspection); “4-nos” (no loss, no damage, no
rust, no mildew), this can ensure trans-loading vehicle in good condition at
anytime.
The purpose of maintenance for trans-loading vehicle is to prevent
related parts from rusting, reduce the abrasion. The rust results in effect for
metal by air, water, sweat or combustion gas-flow, frequent wiping and
lubricating can isolate the metal surface from air, water & sweat, prevent from
rusting. The abrasion results in mutual friction among parts during motion
process, this is the unavoidable phenomenon. But the abrasion can be reduced
by properly lubricating on the friction surface of parts and keep them clean.

5.1 Maintenance requirements

a. All the positions and components cooperate with motion should
be able to move smartly and no seizure phenomenon;

Page 24 of 32
Operation & Maintenance of Trans-loading Vehicle

b. There should be no cracks and damage for all components and

welding seams. Loosing is not allowed for riveting positions, bolt joints and
the positions fixed by clamps;
c. The distortion which may influence canister-fixing is not allowed
for the components as locking mechanism and carrying platform;
d. Oil-leakage is not allowed for hydraulic system;
e. The electric system works reliably, there is no such phenomenon
as off-welding, pseudo welding and loosing for circuit joints of all
components.

manufacturer in time while the problem can not be solved, change the
component or return to its manufacturer for maintenance. While there is
leakage for end face of joint, knock down the joint for inspection, and then
reinstall & screw down the joint by spanner as there is no abnormal situation
any more. While there is leakage for other joints, screw down it by spanner. If
the leakage continues, change the pipeline or joint. Check if the bolt of plug
for electromagnetic valve is loose or not, if it is loose, uniformly screw down
the bolt as per the diagonal line;

it’s dirty. Firstly tweak the shell of oil filter down, and then tweak the filter
cartridge down, replace it with new one, finally recover the shell;
f. Carry out lubrication for the surface of moveable positions, thread
connection and friction positions every half-year;
g. Calibrate the pressure gauge every 2 years.

5.5 Wiping and lubrication

5.5.1 Wiping
The trans-loading vehicle which is frequently used should be wiped
and lubricated after each time’s marching and hoisting operation according to
specific situation. It is forbidden to carry out water-washing for those
components of upper part.
The trans-loading vehicle which is parked in the open air should be
completely covered by the vehicle canopy. Meanwhile, it should be minimally
wiped once every week, also do this after sandstorm, raining and snowing.
Wiping and lubrication for trans-loading vehicle should be carried out under
the instructions of related technicians. Carry out wiping for trans-loading
vehicle around the concentrated training every year, and knock down the
part/component which is not easy for wiping, it’s convenient for
part/component-wiping.
5.5.2 Lubrication
The lubrication requirements for trans-loading vehicle are as
following:
a. The lubrication grease should be stored inside clean & sealed

Page 27 of 32
Operation & Maintenance of Trans-loading Vehicle

containers;
b. Clear away the dirt of grease coupler before lubrication, also
wipe off the overflowed grease after lubrication;
c. Wipe off the old grease while adding the new one;
d. If there is sandstorm, rain and snow, carry out wiping for trans-
loading vehicle in time, supplement the grease as per needs;
e. The oil-drain-plug of oil tank must be tweaked down while
replacing the hydraulic oil, store all the old oil inside clean containers, and
then drain the remained oil of other parts of hydraulic system, finally add the
new oil into oil tank;
f. Carry out lubrication for the surface of moveable positions, thread
connection and friction positions.

5.6 Keeping for trans-loading vehicle

5.6.1 Keeping inside sheltered parking lot
The trans-loading vehicle which is frequently used can be parked at
out-of-doors position, and make it be in marching condition. The trans-
loading vehicle which is parked inside sheltered parking lot, the distance
among vehicles and between trans-loading vehicle & wall should be not less
than 1m. The trans-loading vehicle which will be stored for long time must be
wiped and kept clean, and then be parked in the warehouse which possesses
corresponding safety & protection measures after lubrication and covered
with vehicle canopy. The following steps should be done:
a. Make the S-T-L canisters be in locking condition;
b. The hoisting tools should be reliably fixed;
c. Check and wipe the vehicular tools and spare parts & accessories;
d. Take the battery away and carry out periodically charging &
checking;
e. Consider the convenient maintenance as the principle, seriously

Page 28 of 32
Operation & Maintenance of Trans-loading Vehicle

execute “fixed-person keeping, fixed-site placing, fixed-time wiping, fixed-

period checking”, effectively prevent the trans-loading vehicle from loss,
damage and rusting.
5.6.2 Keeping at out-of-doors parking lot
The placement of trans-loading vehicle is the same with the
sheltered parking lot. However, the trans-loading vehicle is required for
camouflage which fully makes use of landform & terrain feature. It’s
unnecessary to obstinately obey the sequence, but relative concentration
should be considered for convenient commanding & management. The
following conditions for out-of-doors parking lot should be satisfied:
a. Near the troops’ residence and water source, good road surface
for passing in & out is possible, far from the vital communication line and
civilian residence, keep away from the high-pressure circuit and the area
which flood may occur;
b. The ground surface should be firm, smooth, dry and not easy for
water-gathering.
5.6.3 Keeping and maintenance under special condition
5.6.3.1 Keeping and maintenance under high temperature condition
The high temperature brings high humidity, this will lead to the
grease becomes thinner, metallic parts be rusty and rubber pieces aging &
pastiness. Therefore, the following points should be noticed:
a. The trans-loading vehicle should be parked at the cool &
ventilated positions inside sheltered parking lot. The wheels, locking device
and vehicular crane of trans-loading vehicle which is parked out-of-doors
should be covered by grass-curtain, bamboo-mat or other material, this can
prevent from direct sunlight;
b. Frequently check and maintain the trans-loading vehicle,
lubrication should be carried out for anti-rusting.
5.6.3.2 Keeping and maintenance under rainy & damp condition
Page 29 of 32
Operation & Maintenance of Trans-loading Vehicle

During rainy season or inside the tunnel, there is water-leakage of

ground & wall, also with high humidity, the salinity may exist in the air at
coastal region. Under this condition, the trans-loading vehicle may be easily
rusted; the cloth & wooden pieces may be easily decayed. Therefore, the
following points should be noticed:
a. Increase the frequency of inspection and maintenance;
b. Remove the vehicle canopy after raining, wipe off the water
vapor attached on surface of metallic parts, and then carry out drying;
c. Check if there is any water inside locking device after raining and
wipe off it in time;
d. The electric system of the trans-loading vehicle which will be
stored for long time should be periodically checked, generally carry out the
locking operation once as well as operate the vehicular crane once per season.
At the region with high humidity, the frequency should be properly increased,
this can avoid falling of insulation performance and damage of electric
components because of damp weather. Carry out drying for those highly
damped electric components in time.
5.6.3.3 Keeping and maintenance under sandstorm condition
The sand can easily enter inside components/parts under sandstorm
condition and make the components/parts suffer from abrasion & scratch.
Therefore, the following points should be noticed:
a. Maintain the trans-loading vehicle without sandstorm. Firstly
clear away the sand and then wipe off the old grease while wiping. Lubricate
the new grease after wiping, seriously execute frequent wiping as well as little
lubrication;
b. Check if there is any sand on guide rail before hoisting, avoid any
influence for canister moving;
c. Fix the hoisting tools in time after hoisting finished.
