We, the members of UP Tangway, an organization of students of
the University of the Philippines from the province of Bataan,
imploring the aid of Divine Providence, committed to the
attainment of a unified Bataan studentry, cognizant of the need
for self-development, and in the pursuit of rendering service to
the people of our province, and our country, do hereby ordain
and promulgate this constitution.
ARTICLE I
THE ORGANIZATION
Section 1: This organization shall be known as the University of
the Philippines Tangway abbreviated as UP Tangway.
Section 2: The organization’s logo shall be:
(1) Comprised of an emblem of a superimposed
Dambana ng Kagitingan Cross surfacing from an
outline map of the Bataan Peninsula. The outline
map, with a distinguishing “BATAAN” label is
situated over a blue background and forms a
circular trace altogether. The initials “UP” are cut
from the blue background. The words
“UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES TANGWAY”
are situated on top while the founding year
“1985” is situated below. An overall rectangular
pink background contains the aforementioned
elements;
(2) Used only in official documents, publicity
materials, memorabilia and facilities of the
organization. Any visual alteration of the logo is
outline and aspect ratio of the logo. Failure of a
member to comply with the aforementioned rules
shall incur the member necessary penalties
deemed necessary by the Internal Affairs
Committee.
Section 3: The official domicile of this organization shall be
assigned by the Office of Student Activities of the
University of the Philippines.
Section 4: This organization shall be recognized as non-partisan
and non-sectarian to encourage freedom and
equality in the pursuit of the objectives for which the
organization is formed.
Section 5: This constitution shall govern all the official members
of the organization.
ARTICLE II
MISSION
To develop unity and camaraderie among its members
and to ensure their general welfare, to promote the
awareness of the culture of Bataan, and the goals and
ideals of the University of the Philippines and to put forth
its best effort to serve the people of the province and the
country.
ARTICLE II
VISION
An organization that adheres with the ideals of equality,
solidarity and patriotism and whose members are
shaped to be committed in the development and
promotion of Bataan and its culture.
ARTICLE IV
MEMBERSHIP POLICIES
Section 1: UP Tangway shall be composed of students of the
University of the Philippines:
(1) Who have resided in the province of Bataan for a
minimum of one year; or
(2) Whose parentage hailed from Bataan; or
(3) Who are not defined by Paragraphs 1 and 2 of this
Section, but share the same principles and
objectives as the members of the organization; or
(4) Who have been invited because of exceptional
and outstanding contributions in the objectives
and existence of the organization.
And upon fulfillment of the preceding requirements
stated in Paragraphs 1, 2, and 3 of this Section have
passed the application process and undergone
induction.
Section 2: Honorary members are members pursuant to
Paragraphs 3 and 4, Section 1 of this Article.
Section 3: Members of UP Tangway shall be classified into the
following types:
(1) Members who have registered for the semester;
(2) Members who have not registered for the
semester;
Section 4: Members of UP Tangway who have registered for the
semester shall be classified into the following
statuses:
(1) Members who have been part of at least two-
thirds (2/3) of the General Assemblies and
attended at least one-half (1/2) of the major
activities are active members;
(2) Members who have not fulfilled the requirements
stated in Paragraph 1 of this Section are inactive
members;
(3) Members who have filed for leave of
absence to the Internal Affairs Committee;
(4) Members who are suspended as stated in
Section 8 Article X of this Constitution.
Section 5: The status of members shall be evaluated and
updated:
(1) Two months after the start of the semester;
(2) At the end of the semester; and
 (3) At any period in the
semester as requested
by the Executive
Committee.
ARTICLE V
Section 6: The registration of members shall be on a semestral RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A

Section 2: It shall be the responsibility of each registered
member to:
(1) Familiarize one’s self and abide by this
constitution and the by-laws of the organization;
(2) Uphold and abide any decision agreed upon by
the General Assembly;
(3) Be part of the General Assembly, attend
committee meetings, special meetings, and
activities of the organization;
(4) Provide a valid reason to the Internal Affairs
Committee for failure to be a part of the General
Assembly, and absence in committee meetings,
special meetings, and activities of the
organization;
(5) Be an active member of at least one committee;
(6) Cooperate in the affairs of the organization and to
perform to the best of one’s ability any task
assigned by the organization;
(7) Fulfill all financial obligations on time; and
(8) Report any vital information which may affect the
interest of UP Tangway.
Section 3: Unregistered members shall be availed of the rights of
a registered member as stated in Paragraphs 6, and 7,
Section 1 of this Article, and shall have responsibilities
as stated in Paragraphs 1, 2, 8, and 9, Section 2 of this
Article.
ARTICLE VI
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Section 1: The General Assembly is the highest policy-making
and decision -making body of UP Tangway.
Section 2: The General Assembly is composed of registered
members of the organization.
Section 3: The General Assembly shall hold a meeting every two
weeks and whenever the Executive Committee deems
it necessary.
Section 4: The General Assembly shall only vote upon having a
quorum defined as 50% + 1 of the registered
members.
