PROCEDURE:

PLUS SEMI-AUTOMATIC TO PLUS 2 SEMI- AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION

Refer to figure 1 showing the Plus 2 components, figure 2 showing the positioning of the
Semi-Automatic configuration, figure 3 showing the Semi-Automatic plumbing diagram,
and figure 4 showing the cable connections.

After powering down the entire system, remove the following cables:
1) 9-pin interface cable from the Plus Pump to the Plus Valve Module/Power Supply.
2) 25-pin D connector on the rear panel of the Valve Module/Power Supply.
3) 9-pin D connector from the PLUS Controller rear panel to COM1 of the PC
workstation.

Disconnect he following fittings and Teflon tubing. Theses parts can be reused provided
they are in good condition:
1) Pull the 28-inch Teflon tubing out of the stainless steel tube of the PLUS unit.
2) Remove the 3 nuts and ferrules connecting the valve to the rest of the system.

Remove the Valve Module/Power Supply and the Digital Controller from the system.
Referring to figure 2, position the new Liquid Uptake System and Control/Valve Module
into the system. Referring to figure 3 restore the plumbing connections as follows:
1) Feed the beveled end of the 28-inch Teflon tube into the stainless steel tube of the
Liquid Uptake System. The other end of this tube should be connected to the flow cell
inlet port.
2) Connect the 6-inch Teflon line from the left side of the Masterflex pump head to the
top of the valve.

3) Connect the 60-inch Teflon line from the solvent to the right port of the valve.
4) Connect the 60-inch Teflon line from the waste container to the left port of the valve.
5) Inspect the remainder of the tubing in the system and replace those pieces or fittings
that appear worn.
6) If the new Masterflex EZ loader pump head is to be installed, do so at this time
following the instructions in Technical Bulletin IR6079.

Referring to figure 4 connect the cables as follows:

1) The Control/Valve Module uses an external digital power supply. Plug the AC power
cord into this external power supply (113-727000). Then plug the external supply
output cable into the power connector on the rear left of the valve module.
2) Connect one end of the 9-pin interface cable (085-795700) into the Control/Valve
module connector labeled Pump. Connect the other end of the cable into the
Masterflex pump connector labeled Interface.
3) Connect one end of the Liquid Uptake Module(085-030800) 5-pin control cable, to
the 5-pin connector on the rear of the LUM. Connect the other end to the uptake
connector on the right rear of the Valve Module.
4) Connect one end of the 9-pin communication cable (400-030800) to the computer
connector on the rear right of the valve module. Connect the other end to COMM 1 of
the computer workstation.

This completes the upgrade of the PLUS 2 Semi-Automatic configuration. The system
should now be turned on, verified, and a flow cell calibration performed as described in
the Liquid Analysis System Installation and Service Manual.

PLUS AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION TO PLUS 2 AUTOMATIC

CONFIGURATION

Refer to figure 1 showing the Plus 2 components, figure 5 showing the positioning of the
Automatic configuration, figure 6 showing the Automatic configuration plumbing
diagram, and figure 4 showing the cable connections.

Remove the 3 nuts and ferrules connecting the valve to the rest of the system. The nuts,
ferrules and tubing can be reused providing they are in good condition.

Remove the Valve Module/Power Supply and the Digital Controller from the system.
Referring to figure 5, position the new Control/Valve Module into the system. Referring
to figure 6 restore the plumbing connections as follows:
1) Connect the 6-inch Teflon line from the left side of the Masterflex pump head to the
top of the valve.
2) Connect the 60-inch Teflon line from the solvent to the right port of the valve.
3) Connect the 60-inch Teflon line from the waste container to the left port of the valve.

4) Inspect the remainder of the tubing in the system and replace those pieces or fittings
that appear worn.
5) If the new Masterflex EZ loader pump head is to be installed, do so at this time
following the instructions in Technical Bulletin IR6079.

3) Connect one end of the 9-pin communication cable (400-030800) to the computer
connector on the rear right of the valve module. Connect the other end to COMM 1 of
the computer workstation.

This completes the upgrade of the PLUS 2 Automatic configuration. The system should
now be turned on, verified, and a flow cell calibration performed as described in the Liquid
Analysis System Installation and Service Manual.
