It is my pleasure to offer a letter of reference for Samantha Geer. I served as Samantha’s Student Teaching
Supervisor and Senior Seminar Professor during the fall semester of 2019 at Thomas College. I had the
opportunity to observe Samantha’s teaching, as well as her interaction with fellow student teachers during
the seminar sessions. I am very comfortable in recommending her any position for which she is qualified.

Samantha presents as a mature beginning teacher, due in part to her thorough preparation as an educator,
and by her active involvement in the educational programs of her own children. Her familiarity with the
classroom environment is enhanced by her student teaching experience working with two classes of the
same grade. One group worked well independently, while the other group was more dependent on the
teacher. She also became a keen student of teaching styles while under the guidance of two skilled
mentor teachers.
Samantha was quick to adopt techniques of both teachers when the the learning environment dictated.
However, she did not hesitate to employ her own skills in drawing students into lessons that she planned.
She continually developed skills and added to her teaching tools throughout her placement.
Samantha has very natural skills with students. She possesses the ability to understand individual children
and predict their areas of conflict as a lesson progresses. She is sensitive, yet direct in guiding students
along the learning continuum.
Samantha was treated like one of the staff in her placement. She carried out duties, met with parents, and
participated in workshops and staff training with the other members of her school. She enjoyed a very full
experience that provided a solid base for her teaching future.
I recommend Samantha without reservation.
