Reflection Paper: The Practice of the Presence of God the Best Rule of A Holy Life by Brother
Lawrence

After reading "The Practice of the Presence of God, I have come to realize many things in life. In
Brother Lawrence's letters, it was stated that even though you are a sinner God will always give us
favors. He always bestowed his mercy upon us. Also, I have learned in that very moment in my 17 years
of existence I am nothing without God, who has always been there to protect me, guide me with all the
challenges I am facing and forgives me to the sins I had made. Sometimes, I forget to express my
gratitude to Him. With these, I have thought that I must turn all the glory to God because He is the very
main reason for my existence and the reason for my abundant life. By making my life connected with
God or building a stronger relationship with him, I will be living a life full of grace. I know I have
shortcoming when it comes to serving and worshipping God. I have always learned that it is important to
give yourself to God. By doing that we make up for our sins and we show love for him. One time a very
big challenge was given to my family. It was very hard and devastating I felt that I wanted to give up but
God has his ways and miracles. I felt that God has always been there for me and my family. He never
failed to show me His love and guidance on that lowest point of mine. I am overwhelmed by just having
faith in Him, everything is possible.

There is a point in our life where we get lost. Like having troubles and making sins but at the end
of the day, through his never-ending guidance, he helps us get back to Him. Because in God we can only
find inward peace within ourselves. Prayer was also mentioned. It is stated it is a sort of magic that takes
all our worries and burden inside. It is where we always lean on. Prayer is food for the soul. It does not
only consist of words but there is something way deeper behind it is our feelings, our problems, our
gratitude, and our forgiveness. Prayer cannot be instantly answered or sometimes thing does not work
the way we wanted because God has plans. It delays sometimes but God is patient to us in everything
we so we should be also. He will come on His time when you least expected. Just do not lose hope and
do not stop seeking Him.
God does not ask something from us in return, but only to be with Him, and to do nothing, say nothing,
and think nothing, which may displease Him. We must only show pure love to Him because He deserves
even more than that. Lastly, faith, humility, and love should foster us to make us great individuals and
have peace with others and within ourselves.

To connect it to one of the topics or lesson in Media Information Literacy I think Brother
Lawrence acted as one of the People in Media. By those conversations and letters, he has shown how
great God is. That everything he is now is because of God. He told us to always seek for God and His
guidance and that we also must always follow him and give back to Him because it is what He deserves.
