Site Visit

Entry Number: 1

Location: P.E.G Farm, St Joseph

Date: 22nd November 2017

Objectives:

1. To determine the inputs and outputs of the farm


2. To identify farming practices used at the farm
3. To identify farming practices that may impact on soil erosion, soil quality and climate change

Activities: Students arrived at the site and was briefed by Jawanza Small who is a tour guide on the farm.
Students then walked the entire length of the farm area accompanied by Mr Small who pointed out the
different areas and explained any questions which were asked. Students also took note of the different
soil types and different farming practices used. The inputs and outputs of the farm were noted. Farming
practices impacting soil erosion, soil quality and climate change along with a sketch map of the area was
done. The walking tour lasted for about an hour and forty minutes.

Observations:

Entering P.E.G Farm, the farm appeared to be fairly large

Location: MEKA Farm, St Joseph

Date: 22nd November 2017

Objectives:

1. To determine the inputs and outputs of the farm


2. To identify farming practices used at the farm
3. To identify farming practices that may impact on soil erosion, soil quality and climate change

Activities: Students arrived at the site and were briefed by the owner of the farm, Ms Annette Beckett.
Students then walked the entire length of the farm and were briefed of the farming practices that take
place there. Students also took note of the different soil types and the different farming practices used.
The inputs and outputs of the farm were noted. Farming practices impacting soil erosion, soil quality and
climate change were noted. The walking tour lasted for about an hour.
