Money rules the world.

There is a famous saying that money makes the world go round, and many
people believe it is perfectly true. However, some people believe that other things
matter more than money does.
In my opinion, many people place too much importance on money: they are
under the illusion that money can bring them happiness, while, in fact, it only
raises the level of comfort. Our state of happiness depends on completely different
things such as belonging to a close family, being in a steady relationship with our
nearest and dearest, the state of our health and friendships. On the other hand, no
one would argue that we depend on money.
Probably everyone would like to become rich, successful and powerful.
Nowadays these notions are close to each other, because wealth obviously gives
access to new possibilities. There are a lot of stereotypes about rich people, and not
all of them correspond to reality. It is often considered that a wealthy person surely
has an enormous house in a prestigious place, an expensive car, simple and joyful
life with parties, journeys all over the world, concerts of famous singers.
But most people seem to forget that money is only the means of achieving things,
and not the ultimate aim in life. As a result, they devote all their time to earning
money, and become obsessed with it to such an extent that they fail to enjoy life to
the full. Besides, when a person becomes too rich, taking the advantage of those
who are poorer becomes a common thing. Other side effects of being rich include
snobbery, lack of empathy, greed and etc. From my point of view, it is useless to
make wealth one's main goal. If I were rich, nothing in my life would change
seriously, because family and friends, interesting work, creativity are more
meaningful for me. Nevertheless, money is a good instrument to realize one's
plans: if I received a large sum, I would spend it for assisting my relatives and for
travels.
In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that  money plays a vital part in
people’s lives, but we should not idolize it. After all, it is only something which
makes our life cozy and comfortable, because we have to pay for our
accommodation, food and entertainment. Besides, there are a lot of extremely
important things which have no financial value.
