Savannah'"-S English Ultralight Aircraft Fees Pilot Operating Handbook 2 = General Information ‘The aircraft this manual refers to can be used for both sport and tourism and fiether within an authorised flying school as training mean. Following Italian law 106 the aincran cannot by any mean be used for air work activities. 1 The present manual has been drawn up so as to ‘Supply users all necessary information for a safe and efficient use. DANGER: read this manual before your first flight!) Each Savannah™-S is supplied with a Pilot Operating Handbook (this one), a Maintenance Manual and a Spare Parts Catalogue; these manuals are to be considered as parts of the aircraft and they must follow the aircraft during its life. The pilot must be informed and understand the specifications and limitations of this ultralight aircraft. This manual must be read with attention, Prescriptions regarding pre-flight and daily checks must be observed. A separate maintenance manual is supplied with your ultralight aircraft and each maintenance Instruction must be observed. For maintenance of the engine, the parachute system (if installed), and any other additional equipment refer to the original manufacturers’ manuals, DANGER: Savannah" S is a VER aircraft only! To enter into bad weather with IFR conditions by this aircraft is extremely dangerous and must be avoided! Flight in a cloudy weather is forbidden and in any case when there is no visual control with the round or when the area is hit by wind blowing over 30 knots. Moreover, this is not an acrobatic aircraft, acrobatic manoeuvres are not allowed!! DANGER: It is worth reminding that all the engines used on ultra-light aircrafts are not certified in compliance with the standards defined for engines used on certified aircrafts. ‘Subsequently, in the case of non certified engines, more frequent malfunctioning is to be expected than what may normally occur on certified engines. It should also-be added that — in case of ultra-light aircrafts — the selection of who is to perform the maintenance |s left | to the discretionary power of the owner. The ROTAX engine used on this vehicle, even though labelled as UL (i.e. “ultra-light”, and therefore “uncertified") is reputed to be reliable, Nevertheless, upon selling, ROTAX issue 14-09-54-0353 Rev.04 REVISION DATE: 27.06.2013 Serial number ORIGINAL ISSUE DATE: 15.11.2009 Savannah!" -§ English Ultralight Aircraft ren Pilot Operating Handbook Page: 5/50 a statement to draw the attention of the user on the risk that an engine stall may call for an emergency landing. “The user is recommended to keep in mind the above and this should be a reason to submit the engine to consistent maintenance and continuous care to prevent the lack of engine certification from having some negative impact. The risk of engine stall is to be kept in mind in any case when planning the flight. The pilot is to ascertain that every maintenance and check is carried out as prescribed by the manufacturer and ascertain how much space is available for aborted takeoff. 2.1 Certification Criteria The aircraft this manual refers to falls within the limitations foreseen by Italian law 106 dated 25,03,1985, and has therefore.to be considered as an ultralight aircraft. No preventative technical inspection by the Italian Authority (ENAC) is foreseen for the aircraft. In its standard configuration its weight empty does not go over 286 Kg (630 Ibs) including all necessary equipment required to carry out a standard operational trip (with two people on board weighting 75 kg (165 Ibs) each and with the necessary fuel, without going over the maximum takeoff weight being 450 (992 Ibs)kg. Tt also holds a stalling speed that in the most strenuous condition does not go over 65 Km/h (40.4 mph/35.1 knots). The aircraft is admitted within the air circulation of the Italian Aeroclub based on the owner's declaration stating that the aircraft corresponds to the said characteristics. Being that no standards are present to follow for the design, manufacturing and maintenance of the aircraft the CS-VLA reference standard has been used by the manufacturing company so as to guarantee safety during flight. The ultralight airplane has been designed with a MTOW of 600 kg (1323 Ibs) according the CS-VLA regulations, so in those country in which this MTOW is allowed, the airplane can fly with guaranteed safety, Several accessories are available for this aircraft, It is the user's responsibility to fit only those that do not take the aircraft to go over the allowed limit of the local regulations, never exceeding however the 600 kg (1323 Ibs) MTOW design, considering the weight of the accessories added to the standard versions, the occupant’s weight and that of the fuel embarked. Any and all modifications carried out on any part of the aircraft without ICP written approval lead to the loss of the guarantee and the decay of any responsibility by ICP.
