Computer Essentials Discussion

The increased usage of networks in this error of technological advancements has brought

tremendous revolution in the way information and resources are shared. There have been

numerous benefits associated with network usage especially in the business setting. Networks

have necessitated file and resource sharing between and among computer appliances. With the

availability of networks, it is now possible to share data between various users or access it when

connected on other connected devices. Networking has also necessitated sharing of resources as

it is witnessed in peripheral devices such as scanners, copiers, and printers, or even shares

software between users. The sharing has increasingly reduced costs that would have otherwise

been incurred when the networking is impossible.

Other real life benefits of networking include improved communication among staff,

suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders in businesses. Networking has made it possible to

develop a common database from different users, thus avoiding same information being keyed

multiple times. This greatly prevents errors and saves time. However, networking is faced by

drawbacks such as high networking cost and policing usage. Network hardware installation is an

expensive endeavor, and routine maintenance of networks escalates the expenses. The ability of

networks to be shared has also fostered undesirable and addictive behavior. This attribute may

lead to individuals waste most of the time in the internet at the expense of engaging in more

constructive undertakings.
