DESCRIPTION
The SF 91200-E, SF 91000-E and SF 90800-E cylinders are filled with one pound increments, as given in the Table-1, to meet the exact amount of
agent required. The quantity of agent required for each enclosure can be calculated using SFFECO software, version SF 3.10 (or 4.0), which
contains a sophisticated calculation routine for predicting the two-phase as well as two-component flow of agent and nitrogen through the distribution
piping network in quasi-steady state from the initiation of the discharge to final gas blow down. While SFFECO software version 3.10 is used for
calculations for SF 91200-E only, ORIENT software version 4.0 is utilized to calculate all cylider sizes including SF 91000-E and SF 90800-E. The
cylinder is then super-pressurized with dry nitrogen to 360 psi at 70F to provide extinguishment in 10 seconds or less. The 4'' stainless steel valve
offers excellent flow characteristics for the liquefied gas, allows for long pipe runs and has a greater coverage area. This is the largest Clean Agent
cylinder currently manufactured and designed for very large applications. The 1200 lb, 1000 lb and 800 lb. cylinders are manufactured, tested and
stamped in accordance with DOT 4BW500.
CYLINDER BRACKET
The cylinder bracket is manufactured from carbon steel band formed to the radius of the cylinder as shown in Table-2, with flanges for bolting to
continuous slot metal framing channel of 12 gauge steel with corrosion resistant paint or galvanized. The channel is to be supplied by the installer.
The cylinder bracket shall be secured to a surface that the bracket, that will withstand a load up to 5 times of the cylinder weight. This precaution is to
have the bracket safely support the weight of the cylinder and the reaction force of the HFC-227 ea Clean Agent when discharge.

HFC-227ea Clean Agent Cylinder

DESCRIPTION
The Clean Agent cylinders are manufactured, tested and stamped in accordance with DOT 4BW500 or DOT 4BA500. All cylinders are
equipped with differential pressure valve. A piston in the valve bore is equipped with a rubber seal that keeps the HFC-227ea Clean Agent
under pressure within the cylinder. Since the area at the top of the piston is greater than the area at the bottom of the piston, the net force seals
the piston against the valve discharge outlet. When the cylinder pressure on the top of the piston is relieved by means of automatic or manual
activation, there is only cylinder pressure acting against the piston seal, and the piston slide to full open position, allowing cylinder discharge
through the distribution piping network. Each of the basic sizes can be filled with one pound increments to meet the exact amount of HFC-
227ea Clean Agent required, within their fill ranges as shown in Table-1

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW : Misuse or intentional inhalation abuse can cause

Electric Solenoid

DESCRIPTION
The Electric Solenoid valve is a normally closed valve that requires electrical energy to open. It is used to vent the pressure from the top of
the piston in the cylinder valve, allowing the piston to slide upward and commence cylinder discharge. The electric solenoid valves are
available in 24 VDC. The source of the electrical energy will determine the number and rating of the electric solenoid used. The solenoid
circuit must be supervised for a break in the wiring, a ground or a short circuit.
The cylinder discharge valve that is equipped with a solenoid valve is to be connected to a control panel that is UL listed for releasing
devices and compatible with SFFECO Fire Suppression equipment.
Connect solenoid pigtails to actuation circuit wires with wire nuts within a junction box or by means designated by the authority having
jurisdiction.
Whenever an Electric Solenoid is used as the sole means of actuation, a top plug must be used to seal the top of the cylinder valve.

DESCRIPTION
The switch is used to monitor the pressure within the Clean Agent cylinder. If a cylinder leaks occurs, and it's pressure
drops to below 291±10 psig, the switch contacts will be activated, providing a signal to the Release Control Panel to
indicate loss of pressure and/ or leakages. The Pressure Supervisory Switch is wired into a supervised circuit to give a

DESCRIPTION
The switch is provided to indicate a system discharge and
provides electrical contacts for alarm and auxiliary functions. The
switch will have form C contacts rated at 15Amps-125/250 VAC.
An external manual reset button shall be provided on the
pressure switch. After system actuation, the reset button MUST
be depressed in order to reset the device. The switch may also
be connected to any points of the discharge piping between the
cylinder and nozzle.

The purpose of the Caution Sign is to alert personnel that the room is protected by a SFFECO-227 Clean
Agent System and that all doors should be kept closed in the event of fire. The sign is 10" x 13" x 1/16"
(254 x 330 x 1.6mm) and constructed of white plastic with multicolor printing and yellow caution
background. The Caution Sign should normally be located on the entrance door(s) leading into any
room where the SFFECO-227 clean agent protection is being provided.

The purpose of this sign is to alert personnel that the room is protected with a SFFECO-227 Clean

PRE-ENGINEERED UNITS, SFFECO Models SF-3, SF-6, SF-12 Clean Agent Extinguishing System
Units, stored pressure type, having nominal charging capacities of 3, 6, 12, 18 lb of HFC-227ea Clean
Agent, respectively. These units are super-pressurized to 240 psig with operating temperatures of 32 F to
130 F. The units are designed for total flooding protection against Class A surface burning, Class B
Models SF-35, SF-70, SF-140, SF-240, SF-360, SF-520 Clean Agent Extinguishing System Units, stored
pressure type, having nominal charging capacities of 70, 140, 240, 360, and 520 lb of HFC-227ea Clean

Electrical Signaling
Electrical protective signaling systems are configurations of components used to produce alarm signals indicative of fire, smoke,
sprinkler waterflow or other emergency and to produce supervisory signals indicative of conditions needing attention with respect to
protection equipment or watch service. System configurations are classified according to where and how the signals are received.
The categories are commonly designated as local, municipal, remote station, proprietary, emergency voice/alarm communication,
emergency communication, and central station. Auxiliary systems are either local or proprietary systems interconnected with a
municipal system.
This category presents the major system component categories and the integrated system configurations. The selection of
components to form a hybrid system should be made only by those skilled in system design. Also, the suitability of any system
application should be judged on the basis of the hazard(s) being protected.
Local Protective Signaling

Local systems produce alarm and/or supervisory signals within the protected property, which may not be constantly attended. The
systems are electrically supervised, include a secondary power supply having sufficient capacity to operate the system for 24 hours
under maximum normal load and often are primarily for the purpose of providing occupant evacuation signals. Some local systems
also provide for signaling to a constantly attended remote location.
The heart of a signaling system consists of a control unit to which are connected the initiating and signal indicating circuits. The
control unit is usually in a separate enclosure, provides power to its external circuits, and often is of modular design to enable
flexibility in obtaining multiple functions. In a coded signaling system, transmitters may be either separate from or integral to a
control; they transmit to the control or from a control to remote receiving equipment. The equipment listed below, in conjunction
with peripheral devices, may be used to form a complete system or a portion of a multizone system.
LIFECO
LIFECO Fire Alarm Control Panel and Release is a three zone conventional control panel. The variants include the red, 115 Vac
panel (model LF1810-12), the red 230 Vac panel (model LF1810-13). Control uses firmware revision XTUS_17.HEX. The main
board contains: power supply, rated 3 Amps and provides the charge for two, in series, 12 Volt, 7 AH batteries; three Initiating
Device Circuits (each can be programmed Style C or Style B) for detector input or as manual release; three Style Y Notification
Appliance Circuits (500 mA output) and one Auxiliary Power output (rated 500 mA). There are the following six relay outputs,
each relay contacts rated at 30 Vdc and 1Amp: Fire Relay, Local Fire Relay, Trouble relay, First Stage Relay, Second Stage
Relay and Extract Relay. The following ancillary devices can be used with the LIFECO panel: Elite Si (model LF1821-13)
Releasing System Status Indicator and Ancillary PCB (model LF1821-44). (See also AUTOMATIC RELEASES FOR
