A STAR IS BORN

The sun goes down but no moon rises,

as you leave me here in complete solitude,

wandering…
wondering...

whether the light of you will seep through the still,

dark,
nothingness.

The moment to accept reprieve was interrupted,

by the subtle yet distinct rhythm of your footsteps,
but somehow they were not yours.

The song for us is on repeat,

like a subconscious jukebox that runs on pain,
with every beat taking further the path to sanity and closure.

Knees pulled close, head buried with a spine exposed

like barren hills where the only movement
is the steady growth of silence.

Burning desire expunged by a cold glance.

Throat stinging from speechlessness.

Distance.

I miss you.
