TEXT BIOGHRAPHY OF R.A KARTINI

R.A Kartini was born on April 21, 1879 in the city of Rembang. She is someone
from the priyayi class or Javanese aristocracy. her father's name was Raden mas
Adipati Ario sosroningrat, regent of Jepara. her mother's name is M.A Ngasirah.
Kartini is a child of 5 of 11 siblings and stepchildren. she is the oldest daughter.

at the age of 12, Kartini was allowed to study at ELS (Europese lagere school). She
studied Dutch, because Kartini could speak Dutch so she began to study on her
own and write letters to her friends who came from the Netherlands. from
books, newspapers, etc. Kartini had a desire to advance indigenous women,
because she had a low social status, then she made a letter "Habis Gelap Terbitlah
Terang", is a symbol of women to be better.

on 12 November 1903, Kartini married the regent of Rembang, K.R.M Adipati ario
Singgih Djojo adhiningrat, who already had 3 wives. She was also given the
freedom and support of her husband to establish a women's school on the east
gate of the Rembang district office complex. on September 13, 1904 Kartini gave
birth to a child named R.M. soesalit.

in mid 1903 at the age of 24 years, the intention to continue her studies as a
teacher was vanished. but thanks to her persistence, a women's school was
founded by they Kartini foundation in Semarang in 1912. and later in Surabaya,
Yogyakarta, Malang, Madiun, Cirebon and other areas, the name of the school
was "Kartini school". Kartini's foundation was founded by the van Deventer
family, an ethical political figure.

on September 17, 1904, Kartini died at the age of 25 years. Kartini is buried
beside the feather, Bulu district, Rembang. On May 2, 1964, President Sukarno
issued a presidential decree of the Republic of Indonesia no. 108 of 1964, which
established Kartini as a hero of national independence while establishing Kartini's
birthday, April 21, to be celebrated every year as a holiday which later became
known as Kartini day.

raden Ajeng Kartini is a woman who is tough and unyielding, she is determined to
make indigenous women have equality in the fields of law, education and others.
so indigenous women now have value in various fields.
