According to Chomsky's approach 'innatism' language is

acquired through an innate ability. In 1959, Chomsky

discovered that humans are born with innate
knowledge of universal grammar( principles that are
universal to all languages). Universal grammar allows all
children to acquire the language of their environment
during critical period of their development critical
period hypothesis. The human brain are ready naturally
for language in the sense when children are exposed to
speech , certain general principles for discovering or
structuring language automatically begin to operate.
Chomsky also underlines that children do not have to
be taught how to learn language .Recently, researchers
have been attempting to explain few varieties of
acquisition and found another theory which is called
Interaction theory . This theory states that language
combines inborn abilities with a special environmental
triggers.
