The Causes and Effect of Consuming Paracetamol Excessively

Paracetamol is a common painkiller used to treat aches and pain. It can also be
used to reduce a high temperature. Paracetamol is the most widely consumed drug.
Nowdays,a lot of people consuming paracetamol as a daily drugs, but paracetamol can
cause harm more than good effect when it consumed excessively.

1. Consuming paracetamol exccessively or long term can cause toxic, which is


hepatotoxic. Paracetamol poisoning is treated effectively with intravenous N‐
acetylcysteine if started early enough,5 but once hepatic encephalopathy develops, the
risks of complications and death increase significantly

2. Paracetamol can increased risk of mortality, it is because the risk of gastro-


intestinal bleeding and other intestinal side-effects.  potential increased risk of upper
GI bleeding with doses of paracetamol ≥2–3 g d–1.

3. Consuming paracetamol excessively can cause renal impaired.. The consumption of


analgesic drugs excessively can cause chronic renal disease was first noted in a series
of post-mortem cases in the 1950s, and this association is now commonly called
analgesic nephropathy.

In conclusions, hepatotoxicity, increased gastro-intestinal bleeding, and renal


impaired are the three leading causes by consuming paracetamol excessively. Overuse
of analgesic and antipyretic drugs such as paracetamol will have many adverse
effects. So, we should always use paracetamol according to doctor's orders
presciptions.
